  • MP ENCOURAGES LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF START-UP LOANS

    Mel Stride

CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride has welcomed new figures showing that 84 small businesses in his constituency have benefited from over £800,000 of start-up loans from the Government since 2012. The Start Up Loans programme, part of the Government’s modern Industrial Strategy, has issued nearly 65,000 loans to entrepreneurs and small businesses across the country worth £500million.

An entrepreneur who started his own business from scratch and ran it for 20 years before being elected to parliament in 2010, Mr Stride said:

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of communities in Central Devon and vital to our nation’s economy. I know from first-hand experience how tough it can be setting out on your own and how essential it is to have sufficient financial backing at an early stage. I urge anyone looking to set up their own business to visit www.startuploans.co.uk and explore whether a start-up loan would be helpful to them.”

A Start Up Loan is a government-backed personal loan available to individuals looking to start or grow a business in the UK. In addition to finance, successful applicants receive 12-months of free mentoring and exclusive business offers to help them succeed. The loan is unsecured, so there’s no need to put forward any assets or guarantors to support an application. All owners or partners in a business can individually apply for up to £25,000 each, with a maximum of £100,000 available per business.
