PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS in Bradninch and Bow received a visit from their local Member of Parliament today. This morning Central Devon MP Mel Stride met with Bradninch Primary School Headteacher Alison Bourne and was given a tour by the School Council, comprising of two pupils from each Key Stage 2 class. In the afternoon Mr Stride visited Bow Primary School and was shown around by Headteacher Lesley Hodgson.

Mr Stride congratulated both sets of staff on their most recent Ofsted Reports and on figures released as part of the national league tables in December showing the proportion of children achieving at a higher standard in reading, writing and maths in both schools is double the national average.

Speaking after his visits Mr Stride said:

“It was very good to spend time at two very well-run primary schools where pupils are engaged, active and performing well academically. Both Headteachers and their staff should be very proud of the environments they have created and their very positive Ofsted reports.”

There are 43 primary schools in Mr Stride’s Central Devon constituency and he visits around a quarter of them each year, most recently visiting Stoke Canon Primary School, Landscore Primary School in Crediton and Tedburn St Mary Primary School in January.
