CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride was in Crediton today visiting NFU Mutual’s apprentice Maddy Ellis. Miss Ellis is undertaking a twelve-month apprenticeship which began in June 2017. During Mr Stride’s visit he also caught up with former apprentice Laura Holman, who he met during her apprenticeship in 2013 and has since become a full-time employee of Jeremy Atkins & Richard Pym, the self-employed appointed agents for NFU Mutual in Crediton. The MP’s visit coincided with National Apprenticeship Week 2018 which began on 4th March and aims to raise awareness about apprenticeships and celebrate the huge growth in apprenticeships seen over the last decade.

Speaking after his visit Mr Stride said:

“It was really good to meet Maddy and to see Laura again and catch up with the valuable work of the NFU within my constituency. I cannot recommend apprenticeships highly enough – they are an excellent way to gain the skills and experience needed to embark on a successful career while earning.”

    Mr Atkins, added:

“We have benefited enormously from the contributions of our apprenticeships over many years and are delighted to have Maddy here with us. It was very good to see Mel again and update him on the services we offer to farmers across the country.”

Although known for farming insurance, NFU Mutual also offers home, motor, equine and business insurance. For more information visit www.nfumutual.co.uk/branches/crediton.
