  • MP URGES FURTHER PROGRESS ON HEALTH AND WELLBEING HUBS IN ASHBURTON AND BOVEY TRACEY

    Mel Stride

CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride has urged the NHS South Devon & Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to speed up progress towards the creation of fully functioning Health and Wellbeing Centres (HWCs) in Ashburton and Bovey Tracey. At a meeting in Bovey Tracey today with CCG Chair Dr Paul Johnson, Mr Stride urged the CCG to give a clear answer on when the HWCs will be in place in the two towns.

Speaking after the meeting Mr Stride said:

“I do recognise that there has been progress on the provision of local intermediary care. However, the CCG needs to step up its efforts towards Bovey Tracey and Ashburton having fully functioning Health and Wellbeing Centres. I have made this clear to them and the CCG has agreed to provide me with further details regarding their planning and the timelines that they are working to.”

Ashburton Town Mayor and Chairman of Ashburton & Buckfastleigh Hospital League of Friends Sarah Parker-Khan said:

“There have been some significant improvements in services at our hospital with some strong input from the League of Friends and much hard work by our dedicated local staff. But Mel is quite right to hold the CCG’s feet to the fire and make sure they deliver on their promise to provide fully resourced Health and Wellbeing Centres in Ashburton and in Bovey Tracey.”
