  • MP TO ENSURE DCC CONSIDER MARCH WEATHER IMPACT ON CONGESTION SURVEY

    Mel Stride

CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride caught up with Okehampton Town Clerk Emma Jones on Friday to discuss the town council’s work with Devon County Council in addressing traffic congestion in the town centre. Of particular concern was a recent traffic survey which was conducted around the time of the very snowy weather in March that led to the closure of the A30.

    Mr Stride said:

“There is understandable concern that the terrible weather conditions we had in March could potentially affect the results of Devon County Council’s traffic survey, indicating that traffic levels were lower than they normally are. Although the survey was taken between the worst of the weather, it is possible that it could still have had an impact so I will be seeking assurances from DCC that they are completely confident in the validity of this exercise.”
