  • MP TO PRESS VODAFONE OVER POOR MOBILE COVERAGE IN BRIDFORD

    Mel Stride

CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride is going into bat for residents in Bridford in the Teign Valley over problems with mobile phone coverage in the village. Parish Clerk Joan Banks spoke with Mr Stride and explained how the issues began when Vodafone erected a new mast at Woodlands Farm and disconnected the old one, describing coverage as ‘intermittent or non-existent’.

    Local resident Stephen Purser said:

“Mobile phone signal is really important to rural communities like Bridford. Businesses rely on them, particularly tradesmen and farmers who may not have immediate access to a landline when they are working, and it is also a safety issue with residents unable to call the emergency services if they are injured on a walk for example.”

    Mr Stride added:

“I am very concerned that Vodafone do not have appear to have replied to correspondence from the Parish Clerk seeking help on this issue and I am very happy to take it up. I will be writing to directly to the UK Chief Executive Nick Jeffery and pressing him to take action.”
