  • PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS COMPETE TO DESIGN MP’S 2018 CHRISTMAS CARD

CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride has held a competition to design his 2018 Christmas card, which will be sent to local groups and organisations he has visited this year plus friends, family, fellow MPs and ministers; over a thousand in total. This is the sixth year Mr Stride has invited pupils in the 43 primary schools in his constituency to showcase their artistic talent with the winning design and two runners-up shown on the card.

For the fourth consecutive year the competition has been sponsored by Ashburton business Glendinning. When Mr Stride visited the company the freshly printed cards were presented to Ian Glendinning, Chairman, and Managing Director Barry Wilson who had chosen the winner and runners-up. The Central Devon MP also took the opportunity to catch up more generally with one of Ashburton’s most important employers.

Speaking after his visit Mr Stride said:

“Since launching this competition six years ago, sending out my Christmas cards has been a real joy and the standard of the entries this year has been excellent once again. I’m delighted so many schools have continued to get involved.”

Mr Stride will be making a personal visit to congratulate the winner and runners-up. Last year this saw him visit Tedburn St Mary Primary School, Stoke Canon Primary School and Landscore Primary School in Crediton.

    Mr Wilson added:

“We are delighted to be sponsoring the competition again and the winner might well have their design sitting on the Prime Minister’s mantelpiece at No. 10 this Christmas!”
