Ashburton and Buckfastleigh Hospital League of Friends Chairman Sarah Parker-Khan caught up with Central Devon MP Mel Stride today (05/10/18) in Ashburton to brief him on the recent expansion of services at the hospital. The discussion followed a positive meeting that the South Devon and Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group held a fortnight ago with local stakeholders.
Cllr Parker-Khan said:
“Much good work continues at the hospital with tireless input from the matron and her teams. The physiotherapy clinic has expanded, along with podiatry, lower limb services and the community therapy team. Having the District Nursing Team and Ashburton and Buckfastleigh Community Care based at the hospital is enabling a better liaison around vulnerable patients and the matron has recently introduced a psychotherapy service to provide counselling for mental health issues.”
Mel added:
“I am very encouraged by the new outpatient services being delivered from the hospital and especially welcome the provision for mental health counselling.”
Cllr Parker-Khan also discussed with Mel the open day that will be held at the hospital on Saturday 17th November from 11am to 2pm showcasing the services with refreshments provided by the League of Friends.
