Mel Stride MP visited Moretonhampstead Hospital today to meet with North East Dartmoor Care (NEDCare). The not-for-profit organisation, which provides a range of support and personal care to people in the North East Dartmoor area, moved into their new offices in the hospital on 1st September.
Mel heard from NEDCare representatives Julia Darby, John Willis and Jane Wimberley that the organisation is doing well and that the move has been a big success, with significant benefits from being in such close proximity to the NHS staff at the hospital. Mr Stride was shown the new bathing facilities that NEDCare hope to provide very soon and spoke with Richard Foxwell from Moretonhampstead Development Trust who also have an office in the hospital and run the ‘Wellmoor’ programme helping support people of all ages to lead happy, health and independent lives.

“It was great to see NEDCare in their new home at the hospital and to better understand the benefits that are already accruing as a result of their co-location with other health services provided at the hospital. The organisation does excellent work in providing care for some of the most vulnerable members of our society, particularly given that providing care in rural locations can be very challenging.”
