Mel Stride MP has welcomed news that construction will begin next month on Crediton’s new health hub. The modern facility will merge the town’s two existing surgeries into one multi-purpose facility. A £6 million long-term loan from NHS England Estates and Technology Transformation Fund is providing the majority of the finance with the remainder loaned by Mid Devon District Council.
Chiddenbrook Surgery Practice Manager Richard Ward wrote to Mel yesterday to thank him for his help with the project.
Mel said:
"I am delighted that the Crediton’s brand new, purpose-built health hub has been given the final go ahead. It will be an excellent facility that will improve GP provision not just for residents in Crediton but for the surrounding villages as well. Having met twice with the GPs to discuss how I could help with this project I know how much time and effort has gone into this result. I was pleased to play my part by lobbying the Secretary of State for Health for funding. I am very much looking forward to visiting the surgery when it is up and running."
The building is scheduled to be completed towards the end of next summer, with patients expected through the door in Autumn 2021.
