Crediton's Member of Parliament visited the town’s food bank today after receiving an invitation from coordinator and community support worker Chris Parsons. Between August and November 2018 the foodbank gave out 253 food parcels. Central Devon MP Mel Stride spoke to some of the volunteers, heard about the food bank’s support for the End Hunger UK campaign and listened first hand to some of the local stories involving residents in and around Crediton. Mr Stride was told of the generous contributions received from individuals, businesses, local churches and many other local groups and organisations.
Speaking after his visit Mel said:
“It was very humbling to see the generosity of the community in terms of donations and the time given up by volunteers to staff the food bank. I am grateful to all those who shared their experiences with me.”
