CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride was given a tour of St James Church of England Primary and Nursery School in Okehampton today (04/02/20) during National Reading Week. The MP was shown around by Head of School Suzie Stevens and Executive Head Hazel Fox and spent time admiring the school’s bespoke library.
Mr Stride, who was joined on the tour by local Devon County Councillor Kevin Ball, said:
“I was incredibly impressed with St James’s – the senior leadership is very positive and has clear goals on where it wants to take the school. The focus on providing opportunities for outdoor learning and education is excellent and it has a wonderful library. The facilities are also very airy and light, which studies have shown to have a positive impact on pupils health and concentration.”
St James’s opened in September 2018 and currently takes children aged 2, 3 and 4 with the intention to grow incrementally up to Year 6 until it eventually reaches its capacity of 420 pupils. For more visit www.stjamesokehampton.co.uk.
