A NEW CAMPAIGN to boost national adult social care has been launched by the Department of Health and Social Care to boost the care workforce in England. ‘Care for others. Make a difference’ launched on 23rd April and aims to attract thousands more people into social care. It highlights the vital role of the sector during the pandemic, along with the longer-term opportunity of working in care. The campaign includes the new CARE brand for social care which symbolises the entire care profession – like the iconic and recognisable NHS logo. The brand aims to raise the profile of the care sector and enable businesses to show them the same appreciation as NHS workers.
Promoting the campaign, Central Devon MP Mel Stride said:
“There are 1.5 million people working in adult social care, looking after some of the most vulnerable people in our society. They have been among the unsung heroes of the coronavirus pandemic, looking after those most at-risk. ‘Care for others. Make a difference’ is an important campaign that I hope will provide short-term help for a sector that is under pressure due to the pandemic and will help address our longer-term problems associated with an ageing population that will need more care.”
The campaign aims to work with care providers who are looking to recruit staff, so will provide free initial training to applicants considering a job in care. For more information visit www.everydayisdifferent.com/home.aspx.
