LOCAL Member of Parliament for Central Devon, Mel Stride, has voiced his support for Asda’s ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative after data showed that a whooping £3,579.72 had been raised by customers in his constituency.
Asda’s ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative was launched back in September to raise money for local schools.
November marks the final month of the scheme and in Central Devon, 709 customers have now raised over £3,579.72, which will be donated by Asda to support 41 local primary schools.
In the South West, a total of £319,976 has now been donated, out of more than £4.3m given by Asda to schools across the UK.
Up to £7.5m in total is available from Asda through this ground-breaking campaign and more than 22,000 state-funded primary schools are eligible to receive funding. The Campaign is the first of its kind in the industry,
Mel Stride, MP for Central Devon and Shadow Chancellor, said: “Asda’s initiative has been hugely successful, and the money raised will benefit many children in my constituency.
“The majority of primary schools in Central Devon are taking part, and I look forward to seeing which projects schools choose to invest.”
