Mel Stride MP was behind the bar at the Kings Arms in Okehampton today to celebrate the pub’s re-opening by pulling pints with local publican Rob Bass. £90,000 of investment has gone into the pub on St James Street from owners Ei Publican Partnerships. Following its makeover, the pub has become a major venue for live music, watching sporting events and has a function room for hire. Mel and Rob were joined by Salle Wroblewski, Regional Manager of Ei publican partnerships.
Ms Wroblewski said:
“We were delighted to welcome Mel to the Kings Arms and to show him around the new premises, which includes our upgraded beer garden. The pub is doing well since we re-opened and hope more locals will swing by and have a look at the improvements we’ve made and enjoy a pint or two!”
Mel added:
“Pubs are the lifeblood of their communities which is why we have continued to provide them with vital rate relief. They provide a boost to local economies of around £100,000 a year and serve as a vital social hub. The investment in the Kings Arms has clearly been well worth it and it was great to celebrate its reopening with locals today.”
