CENTRAL DEVON MP Mel Stride followed a visit to Buckfastleigh with Prime Minister David Cameron on Wednesday with a visit to Kennford this afternoon. The two communities have been hit hard by flood damage after local rivers burst their banks last weekend. Mel was joined by Environment Agency personnel and local Teignbridge District Councillor John Goodey, and was introduced to families affected by the flooding by local Parish Council Chairman Howard Milton.
Speaking after his visit to the village Mel said: “When you see first-hand the terrible damage that has resulted from the recent flooding no-one should underestimate the devastation that can be caused by such heavy rainfall. I have pressed in Prime Minister Questions this week for a speedy resolution to the issue of flood insurance for affected families and will do whatever I can to help local residents.”
