Mel Stride MP met with representatives from the North, East and West (NEW) Devon Clinical Commissions Group today to raise concerns about the implementation of wellbeing hub services at Moretonhampstead Community Hospital.
Plans for a wide range of new healthcare services were first promised in 2013 but many in the local community are concerned that little has materialised since then. The hospital serves as a base for district nurses, physiotherapy and occasional dermatology surgeries but the full range of health services suggested when the beds in Moretonhampstead were removed in 2013 have not materialised.
After the meeting Mr Stride said, ‘I was very frank with the CCG. The fact that appropriate new services are still not yet in place is extremely disappointing. The CCG gave significant assurances as far back as 2013 and the progress to date is totally unacceptable. I have secured a commitment that the CCG will provide me with a copy of their plans as to how they will turnaround this situation within the next 3 months and I have their agreement to provide regular progress reports. I will be firmly involved in monitoring their progress.”
The new services proposed by the CCG for the wellbeing hub include intravenous therapies clinics, a transfusion service and a Depression and Anxiety Service (DAS) amongst others.
