I have recently visited several businesses in Central Devon as part of Family Business Week 2022. The initiative, led by the Institute for Family Businesses and supported by NatWest, highlights their importance to our economy and to local communities.

Ahead of Small Business Saturday (3rd December 2022) Central Devon MP Mel Stride has met with founder and owner of Northlew-based business 3Donkeys. Frustrated of not being able to find outdoor overalls designed for women, Amanda Marshall set up her own business to fill the gap in the market.

£870 boost for local pensioners: Mel Stride MP Column

As Secretary of State for Work and Pensions I have taken the decision, in consultation with the Chancellor, to fully uprate the state pension by inflation. This means that the state pension will rise in line with September’s inflation rate (10.1%) for the 2023-24 tax year.

Local Remembrance - Mel Stride MP Column

On Sunday I attended the Remembrance Service in Ashburton and laid a wreath on behalf of my constituents at the town’s war memorial. I alternate between different locations in Central Devon each year, attending Crediton last November.
